uPunchit+ is an easy to use application that lets you place numbered notes on the images that you bring to the screen of your iPhone. Preparing a “punch list” at the end of a project has been a task associated with the design and construction industry for many years. uPunchit+ now lets you produce a “punch list” and email it to your owner or contractor while you are on the job. The application loads photos, screen captures or a drawing saved in a .jpg or .bmp format and lets you work in either portrait or landscape mode. You zoom and pan to the area of the image you are interested in and then enter a project/job number and subject which becomes the title of the email. The application then overlays the image with a yellow “butter paper” film that highlights the numbers that you enter by touching the screen. As you place each number, you are prompted to enter the note associated with it. When you are finished, the application generates a .pdf file with the numbered notes and an image that you can save or send to those you work with.

uPunchit+ works like an architect, an engineer or an interior designer would if he or she had a drawing, some tracing paper and a red pencil. Anyone who communicates concepts with drawings and pictures can now work in the palm of their hand at a meeting or in the field, email a “punch list” for the project and always have an electronic copy for their files.

What's New in Version 2.0.11

- iOS4 multitasking compatibility

- "Clouds" and shake to clear

- Project and Subject in email subject line

Note: There is a compatibility issue between the PDF file produced by the application and PDF file readers. Clicking through the error message presented by the reader when it opens the application's PDF file does not affect its readability or print ability. We hope to have this issue resolved soon.

About as useful as a poop-flavored lollipop...

...but I had to check it out. Knowing that we can import our drawings in PDF form through Dropbox or other app, one would think a short leap from there to work with something other than photo album. Or did I miss that in the nonexistent documentation?

Pleasantly surprised

I decided to risk $3 on this app. On first use it was easy to navigate and utilize. I met customers, created punch list and all was good. I emailed via the app and was disappointed to see the email results. My report was not legible, etc. I contacted the developer and within hours received a phone call and email. I called and he explained to me the limits of the app. After learning the limits and understanding how I can use the app within it's limits and make it work for me, I am satisfied with the $3 investment. As always as a user I wish for multiple functions that aren't there but as I said after understanding the limits of the app I am satisfied with the purchase. I am overly satisfied with the customer support.
